Operating in a remote region requires unambiguous safety standards and verifiable regulatory compliance. Every certification, every protocol, every drill — documented and current.
Raja Ampat is a 6–8 hour evacuation from major medical infrastructure. This single fact dictates every safety standard we maintain. Below: certifications, onboard equipment, crew training, and emergency response protocols.

Vessel & Operator Certifications

Vessel Safety Inspection

Annual inspection by KKP (Maritime Affairs). Hull integrity, engine, navigation, safety equipment certified.

Captain STCW-95

International Standard Mariner certification. Indonesian Master Mariner license. All captains current.

PADI Dive Operator

Verified PADI Travel Partner. All instructors PADI Divemaster minimum, most are MSDT.

DAN Emergency Protocol

DAN-trained emergency response. Direct sat-phone link to DAN Indonesia 24/7.

Onboard Medical Capability

Full first aid kit · O2 supply · AED · crew EFR certified. Two crew minimum DAN-certified.

Communications Suite

GPS, radar, SSB radio, satellite phone, EPIRB, AIS, life rafts.

Daily Safety Protocols

    Pre-departure safety drill

    Cabin safety + emergency mustering + life jacket fit + lifeboat orientation.

  2. 02

    Daily dive briefing

    Site-specific hazards · current profile · max depth · NDL warnings · buddy assignments.

  3. 03

    Insurance verification

    DAN or equivalent verified before first dive. No proof = no dive.

  4. 04

    Post-dive monitoring

    Surface intervals tracked. Crew monitors for DCS symptoms. Closest chamber: Sorong (4-6h evacuation).

Emergency Response Plan

DCS / Diving Emergency: Onboard O2 administration → Sat-phone call to DAN Indonesia → Evacuation to Sorong harbor (~6h) → Onward to Bali (DPS) if hyperbaric chamber required (~8h flight evac arranged).Medical emergency (non-dive): Onboard EFR-certified crew stabilize → Sat-phone to nearest port medical or emergency services → Vessel-based evacuation OR helicopter (insurance permitting).Vessel emergency: EPIRB activation triggers maritime SAR. Life rafts on deck. Local SAR partners contacted via SSB radio.Mandatory: All guests provide insurance details + emergency contact + relevant medical history before first dive.
