Site Profile

A long exposed ridge that rises to 7m below the surface, dropping past 40m on both sides. The ridge serves as a cleaning station for two distinct species of manta ray — reef mantas (Mobula alfredi) and the larger oceanic mantas (Mobula birostris). Few sites in the world offer both species at the same cleaning station. The dive involves descending onto the ridge, securing position with a reef hook, and observing the pelagic activity. Beyond mantas: large Napoleon wrasse, schools of chevron barracuda, and several species of reef shark are common. The site's exposure means powerful and sometimes vertical currents — suitable only for highly experienced divers.

Dive Plan

  1. 01

    Negative entry up-current

Tender drops up-current of the ridge. Descend immediately to avoid being swept past.

  2. 02

    Hook in at 18–25m

Find the ridge top. Hook in on the up-current side. Watch the current shadow for cleaning stations.

  3. 03

    Observe both manta species

Reef mantas first, oceanics later — stay still, let them approach. Photographers go wide.

  4. 04

    Multi-level ascent

Slow ascent along the slope. Napoleon wrasse + chevron barracuda en route. Safety stop in the blue.
